Coralaria is the latest water sculpture by artist Jason de Qayres Taylor. Built in a large, developed coral lagoon in the Maldives, the semi-submerged installation is positioned so that people and sea inhabitants could interact with the sculptural elements.
6 meters high, a cube of stainless steel in the open air, developed on the basis of natural coral structures and its composition allows tidal water and marine life to pass through. Inside the structure, which provides some shelter from the currents of the ocean, there are several figurative sculptures. More sculptures sit and stand on the roof of the cube to combine the elements of the interior with the horizon.
He is a famous sculptor and some of his works have become simply famous. Below in the post I will show
Jason de Cayres Taylor was born in the UK in 1974 and spent his youth, plunging into the sea with coral reefs in Malaysia, while still a teenager he began to study art. Since then, Taylor has become famous for his huge underwater installations in places off the coast of Mexico,The Bahamas and the West Indies, where he uses eco-friendly concrete sculptures specifically designed to shelter marine life.
This is how the corals are settled by human-established sculptures.
