SAN Questionnaire: Interpretation

The SAN questionnaire (activity, well-being, mood) is designed to determine the state of an adult at the time of the survey. Information on the interpretation of indicators is more needed by specialists, but ordinary people can also learn more about the questionnaire.

SAN technique: what is it?

The test checks how functional a person is at the moment, can he adequately make decisions, respond quickly, work physically? Or he urgently needs a rest.

In the questionnaire three dozen polar questions. Each state: well-being, activity, and "fighting" or depressed mood is determined by 10 criteria.

SAN questionnaire

The subject himself determines his condition at the moment and answers - he is alert and active or passive, efficient or tired, considers himself happy or unhappy, etc. The psychologist records all the answers and then gives a detailed interpretation.

For whom is the SAN questionnaire developed?

Developed named test leading staff of the Moscow University. Sechenov back in 1973.Doskin V.A., Lavrenyeva N.A., Sharay V.V. and other researchers took part in its creation.

The SAN questionnaire, more precisely the processed information collected by the questionnaire, helps professionals to determine some personal characteristics of a person:

questionnaire SAN. Interpretation of results

In addition, a questionnaire is used to determine the state of mentally ill people in a specific period of time. That is, the questionnaire is used everywhere, where you just need to establish the state of psycho-emotional health of a particular person during the load.

Often it is used for studies of adolescence. To do this, about 100 people are interviewed by teenagers and calculate the overall results.

Interpretation of results: keys

And how does a qualified psychologist count points? The rating is given for each criterion averaged. To calculate the results, you must rely on the table. Each question has 7 answer choices - numbers from -3 to 3. Answer 3 gives you 7 points, 2 points get 6 points, and so on, descending to 0. The key for each question is different.

Counting, as we see, is simple. There are 30 answers-tips that characterize 3 indicators. Each answer is a criterion that assesses the state in points from 1 to 7. The average score is 4, but a rating of 5.0 or 5.5 is considered a normal indicator. The specialist during the processing of the results looks not only at the points, an important indicator is the ratio of activity, mood and well-being.

The disadvantages of the technique

In the described method, there is one major drawback. The SAN questionnaire includes fairly general features for many states. This makes diagnosis difficult. In addition, the answers are often extremely subjective.

You can find a lot of SAN rapid tests that give computer processing of the results, but it is better when the characteristic is written by a trained specialist who sees the real personality features for points.

Survey conditions: application

In a detailed description of the results of the survey, the psychologist should describe the conditions under which the study was conducted: after stress, physical exertion or in a relaxed atmosphere. Anyone who tests should take into account how long a person has rested.

SAN Method

If the SAN questionnaire is given to a person at the end of the working day, then, of course, the test will show low scores for activity and well-being (below 4).At the same time, the mood can be good, but it can also be depressed. However, everything again depends on the personality characteristics. For many, the activity remains good at the end of the day, when the SAN questionnaire is applied.

Interpretation of test results to be objective should be carried out only by a specialist. This should be considered. In addition, the technique is not intended to diagnose any abnormalities, but is carried out only for the prevention of stress and the study of personality.
