Where do lice come from?
Lice are small insect-parasites that live onbody, as well as on clothes and bedding. Lice feed on the blood of their host. They suck a small amount of blood approximately 5 times a day. Their bites can cause itching and irritation. The female lays egg-nits, which turn into an adult insect in 18 days. Lice are head and pubic, depending on what part of the body they live on. Also, they give out linen or louse lice, which live in bed linen, towels, clothes folds. Where do lice come from? There is a false opinion that lice can only be found in slovenly people who do not follow the rules of personal hygiene. But this is not true. Of course, a dirty body and hair contributes to infection with lice, but a completely clean person can catch lice.
Ways of infection with pediculosis (lice):
- direct contact with an infected personman. Fly lice do not know how, so you need to be pretty close to the infected. So you can get infected in public places: at train stations, in swimming pools, in cinemas, in markets, etc. Often, infection occurs during travel: in trains and in hotels.
- contact with personal belongings of the infected: towel, hairbrush, hats, clothes, bed linen. Such contact may lead to the appearance of underwear lice. It is necessary to use only your personal hygiene items.
- pubic lice can appear with frequent changes in sexual partners, when using underwear infected or because of non-compliance with personal hygiene rules.
Children can become infected with parasites in kindergartens,Schools, summer camps and tourist trips. It is necessary to explain to the child that you should use only your personal hygiene products and keep clean.
